My kids love to color, but what they love more than that is when I sit down and color with them. When a representative from Leisure Arts contacted me to ask whether I’d be interested in reviewing the latest line of coloring books – the Happy Coloring Series, I jumped at the opportunity. Here’s what I thought.

About Leisure Arts’ Happy Coloring Series

There are four books in the Happy Coloring series by Leisure Arts:

  • Inspire Me,
  • Mom Life,
  • Happy Life, and
  • Kindness Matters.

Each of the books cost $5.99, and has 48 pages. They feature fun drawings by Lindsay Hopkins with various sayings that fit the theme of the book.

My Thoughts

I really liked the illustrations in the coloring books. They’re not so intricate where coloring them in seems daunting, but they’re definitely more detailed than your average kids’ coloring book. I like this because when I’m coloring, I’m coloring with my kids, and one page in this book generally lasts for the same time as my kids’ attention spans for their books. I’m thinking of making “coloring time” for all of us a daily thing after breakfast.

My one critique of the books is that the perforated pages don’t pull out as easily as I’d like. This isn’t the biggest deal, but if I’d like to have my edge look neat when I hang it on the fridge, it means that I’ll need to get out my paper cutter and trim the edge just a little bit. It also means that if you’d like to pull pages out, you’ll want to go slowly as to not tear the page before (or after) you color on it.

These coloring books are a lot of fun, and they’re great for those who don’t have a lot of time to spend on coloring books, but who want the benefits from adult coloring. There’s an added bonus: the images are pretty enough to be framed, if you like, and the sayings are great for different areas of the house. Purchase one or all of the Happy Coloring Series here.
