Well-Caffeinated Mom is a family lifestyle blog about running a household on too much coffee with way too much life happening in the background. If you’re looking for beige linen aesthetics and perfectly styled flat lays, this isn’t your place. But if you’re running on caffeine and cuss words while trying to keep five humans alive, welcome home.
I write about parenting, secular homeschooling, coffee and food, books, board games, video games, outdoor adventures, product reviews, and whatever else is happening in our chaotic, caffeinated life.
Who’s Behind the Snarky Mug?
I’m Ronda Bowen, mom of five (ages 5, 9, 10, 12, and 27), homeschooler, writer, editor, Girl Scout troop leader, gamer, and the person who decided running multiple businesses while homeschooling five kids was a reasonable life choice.
I spent my early adult years as a single mom studying philosophy. When I realized graduate school and my actual goals weren’t matching up, I left academia and started freelancing as a writer and editor. That was 2008. I’ve been doing this ever since.
The homeschooling thing: I’ve been homeschooling for over a dozen years now (cumulatively across all my kids) and plan to keep going until they graduate. We’re secular, eclectic, and decidedly not doing Pinterest-worthy homeschool rooms. It works for us.
The writing thing: Since 2008, I’ve published 1,200+ articles on everything from wine and baseball to philosophy and project management. My work has appeared in academic journals (In-Spire Journal of Law, Politics, and Societies; Women in the XXI Century), anthologies (What Philosophy Can Tell You about Your Lover; Native America, a State-by-State History), and I co-authored Success in Life Through Personality Engineering with Murali Chemuturi.
The volunteering thing: I’m a Girl Scout troop leader and serve on the Highest Awards Committee for Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartlands.
The random thing: I’m a member of the Rebel Badge Club and earn badges just like my Girl Scouts do. Because why should kids have all the fun?
About This Blog
Well-Caffeinated Mom has evolved over the years from Not Quite Ally McBeal to Wining Wife®. For a brief time, in 2022-2024, I consolidated everything here because managing four separate blogs while homeschooling five kids was, shockingly, unsustainable. I’ve since separated them once again, but you’ll still find that historical content from my other blogs here.
