Book Review: Nature’s Best Remedies

Ronda Bowen, February 19, 2019February 21, 2019

While I’m all for going to the doctor when needed, it’s good to know what remedies can help with which ailments. Our whole household has been battling rounds of the winter crud, so getting to review Nature’s Best Remedies, published by National Geographic, made perfect sense.

The book is arranged by use – respiratory remedies, GI remedies, oral and dental care, first aid, etc. This makes it handy to find what you’re looking for without resorting to the index. As is typical for National Geographic’s publications, This book is filled with great images and illustrations, and it’s printed on heavy, nice paper. This means it will hold up to a lot of use – important when talking about reference materials. Following a by use guide, is a “pharmacopeia” arranged by herbs, spices, oils, pantry items, and home helpers. Want to know what health benefits a kiwi has? Just turn to the page that talks about it. The end of the book has a handy checklist for each chapter and a thorough index.

Even if you’re like me, and barely “crunchy,” Nature’s Best Remedies is a handy reference item to keep on hand.
