I like to keep a list of things I can do that make me happy/will lighten a dark or anxious mood when I find myself in one. Here’s a sample of items on my list: Listen to cheesy 80s music – the cheesier the betterWatch stupid comedies – Zoolander, Billy Madison, and the likesWatch a few episodes of Friends or Big Bang TheoryRead a book or a short storyGo for a walkGo to a cafe and get some coffeeCall a friendSend a message to a friend on FBMake a list of things I’m grateful forGo for a runDo something craftyDraw somethingWriteListen to spiritual musicListen to classical musicRead about other people’s success storiesRead a motivational blog postHug my sonHug a catGo to a pet storeHug a friendSend a note to a friend appreciating themHelp someone elseVolunteer for a causeFind something funny about the distressing situationMake up a song about what’s causing me anxiety, worry, stress, or strife – bonus points for making it funnyGet outdoors You get the idea. It’s nice sometimes to have a list of things that you can do if you’re feeling a case of the blahs. What does your list look like?
