Wednesday Wants

Can you believe it’s already February? I can’t believe how fast this year is going by already. I don’t know if you recall, but my word of the year is “sparkle.” By the end of this year, I really want to feel like I sparkle, so I’ve been doing a lot of “Windows-shopping” looking around online. I thought I’d start sharing some of the things I’m lusting after at the moment.

Wardrobe Wants

It’s been forever since I’ve actually bought more than a pair of jeans and some race t-shirts, so my wardrobe really needs an overhaul. I’ve been slowly purchasing some basics, and I’ll be sharing those when they come in, but I’m also planning to sew some things for my wardrobe – I’m finally getting a coverstitch machine – yay! Here’s a list of some of the things I’m loving right now.

Leopard Print Faux Fur Coat

Leopard Print Faux-Fur Walker Coat (Calvin Klein)

I know. I know. We’re heading into spring, and I never really thought that leopard print would be my thing. But once I saw this blog post from Shapely Chic Sheri, I became obsessed. I mean, seriously, she looks awesome…so now it’s my mission to either find one on clearance or make one.

Black Faux Leather Mini Skirt

Plus Size Faux-Leather-Front Pencil Skirt (Calvin Klein)

I actually think I want an a-line leather skirt, but I really like this one, too. I just got a pair of leather legging pants from Old Navy that fit great, and they can be dressed up and down, so I thought a skirt would be fun as well.

Book Wants

I’m currently reading through Margaret Atwood’s A Handmaid’s Tail. Yes, you can roll your eyes. I’m late to every party, my “excuse” is four kids. Did you see that she has a sequel coming out in September? Also, how messed up is it that we have to wait ALL THE WAY ‘TIL JUNE 5TH FOR THE NEXT SEASON?

Leni Zumas’ Red Clocks

Anyway, I digress. I’ve decided I want to spend some time with some dystopias, as it’s one of my favorite genres, and I’ve heard good things about Leni Zuma’s Red Clocks, so I’d really like to get my hands on that one and read it next. I already have another dystopia to read, The Power by Naomi Alderman. I picked that one up at Half Price Books recently.

Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Beginning Place

So, while at Half Price Books, I also saw The Beginning Place by Ursula K. Le Guin. This novel looks intriguing, and it’s in that speculative fiction genre I enjoy, so I’ll probably pick it up sometime soon when I see it again.

Home Wants

So, after living in our house for 2 1/2 years, we’re finally getting around to organizing and packing it. In fact, this first quarter of the year, I’m spending on organizing. We moved from California to Kansas, had baby 3, then bought a house and had baby 4…so the dust is finally settling, and I can start thinking about how to decorate our house. I even painted the dining room after buying the paint shortly after we moved in!

Britech’s Telescope LED Floor Lamp

We love to read, but our house is so dark. We have a couple of inexpensive lamps from Target that have moved with us through all four of our moves, but they’re really not enough. I love the look of this lamp, and it would be great for illuminating our little reading corner in our master bedroom.

Storage Bins

One of our huge projects has been getting the kids’ playroom in order. As such, we’re in need of bins to sort toys into. I haven’t decided for sure whether we’ll go with these canvas collapsible bins or some more colorful ones like these. Either way, we need to get them soon so we can cross “playroom organization” off our lists.

Subscription Service Want

I recently learned about Grill Masters, and I’m intrigued. I’d love to try their monthly box, particularly as we get into spring and early summer – but during the winter we “grill” inside using our panini press and the broiler in the oven.
