About Bermuda Pirates

Bermuda Pirates (2019) is a game for 2-4 players ages 7 and up. I tested the game with my then-six year old, and my 5 year old has also enjoyed this game. The Game was designed by Jeppe Norsker and published by FoxMind and HUCH!

The game requires memory and dexterity for players to be successful. The description on the back of the box says:

The Bermuda Triangle has been known for its treacherous sea. An adventurous band of pirates has set its sights on an island known for the treasures it conceals. On their way, they must overcome mysterious, suddenly appearing, whirlpools that will instantly drag their boat to the bottom of the sea. Will you be able to navigate your boat to the island in this mystic sea, amass the treasures and make your way back safely? Will you outsmart competing bands of pirates trying to get their hands on the treasures before you?
Bermuda Pirates is a highly original game where players’ boats are literally captured by the sea on their way to the treasures.

Memory, dexterity, and sharp observation skills will be put to the test to prevail in this captivating game for the whole family.

In Bermuda Pirates, each player must push their boat with only one finger and reach the treasure island in the center of the board and grab some treasures. Avoid the whirlpools (magnets) as your boat might sink and you will need to start again! First player to get 4 different kinds of treasures wins!

FoxMind & HUCH!

The game has been recognized as a 2021 Mensa Select Winner and 2020 Spiel der Spiele Hit für Familien Recommended game.

Gameplay

Gameplay of Bermuda Pirates is pretty simple. Each player chooses a boat. All treasures are placed on the center island. Players must use a single finger to steer their boats to the island in the center. If they hit a whirlpool, the boat sinks and they have to start again. The game relies upon dexterity and memory.

Once your boat has reached the center treasure island, you can load it up with a treasure. But if you hit a whirlpool on the way back, it launches and must be left where it lands while your boat goes back to your start. The first player to collect four different types of treasure wins.

Bermuda Pirates Board Game Review

We enjoyed playing Bermuda Pirates, and it’s made its way into our regular game rotation. The game is fun and the board is nice to look at. It can be frustrating for younger players when they hit a whirlpool and lose thier treasure, which of course slows down their progress. Overall, though we enjoyed the game. The following is a video made while playing with my seven year old.
